Proofs of distorting Tawraah

In this article, we will present proofs, not only one, on the distortion of Tawraah and Injeel (Gospel). We will present logical and objective evidences that are based on investigating the reality of Tawraah and Injeel. Rather, we will present witnesses that prove this distortion from their peoples i.e. from the Jews and Christians.

 First proof:

Tawraah is the Book which Allaah The Almighty sent down to Moosa (Moses), peace be upon him. Moosa was born, grown, taught, sent and revealed to him in Egypt. Tawraah was sent down to him in hieroglyphic; it is his language and that of the Children of Israel in Egypt. Moosa died and buried in Egypt. That was before the Children of Israel, under the leadership of Joshua entered the land of Canaan i.e. Palestine. This was also before the appearance of the Hebrew language with more than one hundred years. Actually, the Hebrew language, in origin, is a Canaanite dialect.

Where then is the Tawraah that was sent down to Moosa in hieroglyphic? Does it have any trace in the Jewish religious heritage?

The answer of this question, which all people agreed upon even the Jewish people themselves, is that there is no any trace of this Tawraah (i.e. that is revealed to Moosa).

Second proof:

Moosa, peace be upon him, to whom Tawraah was sent down in hieroglyphic lived and died in the 13th century B.C. while the first attempt of recording the Books of the Old Testament by“Azariah” i.e. was at the middle of the 5th century B.C. after the Jews returned from the Babylonian captivity (538-597 B.C.). This indicates that the Jewish heritage remained in oral form for 8 centuries during which the Children of Israel worshiped the calf for sometimes, idols of the Canaanites for some other times and turned against their Prophets in most cases. Can any sane person believe that a religious heritage, in its oral form, remain for period of 8 centuries that witnessed all of these revolts against its fundamental principles (i.e. that of the Tawraah of Moosa), undistorted, unchanged, unaltered, free of any deletions, additions or even forgetfulness?

The Third Proof that proves that the Books of the Old Testamenthave been distorted are these blatant contradictions that still exist in it till now. Actually, were they are the Books which are the Word of Allaah The Almighty that was sent down to Moosa, peace be upon him, then they would not have had these differences and contradictions.

Actually, stating all contradictions that fill the Books of the Old Testament really needs a “book”, so we will just give some examples about them. Amongst them are:

1-The name of Allaah was sometimes, in these Books, Jehovah while in some other times it called Elohim. This proves that different stages of time, multiple religious heritages, diversity of theological cultures, different resources that were collected and introduced, after 8 centuries, to these Books.

2-While talking about the beginning of creation mentioned in the Books, we find many differences and contradictions regarding it.

In the Book of Genesis only, we find:

-“Light was created in the first day.” [Genesis 1: 5]

-Then we find that it was created in the fourth day. [Genesis 1: 16-19]

As for the sun:

- It was sometimes said that it was created in the first day. [Genesis 1: 5]

- Some other times, it was said that in the fourth day. [Genesis 1: 14-19]

As for the history of creating the living creatures:

- It was said in the Book of Genesis [1: 20-23] that animals and birds were created first – in the fifth day – and that Adam was created in the sixth day.

- Again in the same Book i.e. Genesis [2: 7-10] It was said that man was created first, then plants, then animals and birds.

Can these differences and contradictions be the Word of Allaah The Almighty i.e. Tawraah, that He sent down to Moosa, peace be upon him?

3-      Taking about the age of time, from Adam to the flood of Nooh (Noah), we find that it is:

-1656 years in the Hebrew Tawraah.

-2262 in the Greek version.

-1307 in the Samaritan version.

Can such contradiction be attributed to Allaah The Almighty, the Creator of time and who knows its days and even its seconds?

4-Talking about the date of the descent of Iblees (Satan) to earth, we find that it was:

-Sometimes before the creation of Adam and his admission to Paradise. [Revelation 12: 7-10]

- And some other times, after the creation of Adam and his sin in Paradise. [Genesis 3: 1-15]

5-Regarding the duration of the flood of Nooh, peace be upon him, we find that it is:

-In Genesis [7: 24], we find its duration was 150 days.

Can this be named something other than contradiction, distortion and falsification?

6-Talking about the number of the years of famine that Allaah The Almighty ruled against Daawood (David), peace be upon him, we find that they are:

- Seven years [II Samuel 24:13]

-Three days [I Chronicles 21: 11]

7-Talking about the number of chariots that Daawood, peace be upon him, destroyed in Aram, we find that they are:

-700 chariots and 40, 000 horsemen [II Samuel 10:18]

-7000 chariots and 40, 000 men [I Chronicles 19: 18]

8-Talking about the number of the Jews who were freed from the Babylonian captivity, we find it:

-6,377 [Ezra 2]

-7,265 [Nehemiah 7]

9-Talking about the prohibition of the marriage of the Israeli men to non-Israeli women, we find that:

-“Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.” [Genesis 7: 3]

-While we find in [I kings 3: 1-12]: “And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, … Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.”

-Then in [Nehemiah 13: 26-27]: “Solomon was blamed for marrying outlandish wives.”

10- Talking about the glorifying and praising of the earth to Allaah The Almighty, we find that the earth praises and glorifies Allaah. [Psalm: 66]

While we find that the earth does not praise and glorify Allaah. [Psalm 30: 9]

11-Also, we find the Samaritan Tawraah dated back to the fourth century differs from Masoretic text[1] in more 6000 aspect.

12-The version of Samaritan Tawraah agrees with the Septuagint (125-130 B.C.) translation only in one-third of it.

13-The Book of Jeremiah, in the Septuagint, is less that the Hebrew text with one-seventh.

14-The Book of Job, in the Septuagint, is less that the Hebrew text with one-quarter.

15-  Also, the Books of the Old Testament does not speak about Moosa, peace be upon him, in the second person style as if it is not sent down to him. But rather, it speaks about him, in most case, in the person third style i.e. as if it is a heritage that is collected and written after his death. Amongst these examples are:

-“And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face.” [Genesis 33: 11]

-“Now the man Moseswasvery meek, above all the men whichwereupon the face of the earth.” [Numbers: 12: 3]

- “And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host.” [Numbers: 31: 4]

-“Moses the man of God.” [Deuteronomy 31: 1]

-“Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord.” [Deuteronomy: 34: 35]

-“Then the Lord said unto Moses.” [Exodus 6: 1]

- “And Moses spake before the Lord.” [Exodus 6: 13]

-“And Moses said unto the Lord.” [Number 11: 11]

- “And the Lord said unto Moses.” [Deuteronomy 31: 41]

- “So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord. And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day. And Moseswasan hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated. And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weepingandmourning for Moses were ended. And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses. And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses.” [Deuteronomy 34: 5-10]

In the verse No. 6 of the same Book and Chapter: “But no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.”

Can such “speech” be sent down to Moosa, peace be upon him, in Tawraah, or it is just additions and compilations introduced to such heritage after the death of Moosa, peace be upon him, with many centuries?

16-  Still, there are the differences of the Christian churches regarding the numbers of the Books of the Old Testament in which these churches believe:

As for the Protestant, they believe in 66 Books.

As for the Catholic, they believe in 73 Books.

As for the Orthodox, they believe in 66 Books.

Recently, Pope Shenouda III, Pope of Egyptian Orthodox, in his weekly exhortation has witnessed that the present Books of the Old Testament lacks the Deuterocanonical Books in which the Orthodox Church believes that it is an essential part from the Old Testament.[2]

These are just examples of the contradictions and differences that fill the Books of the Old Testament. They prove the distortion of these Books and give clear-cut evidence they are not the Word of Allaah The Almighty sent down to Moosa, peace be upon him.
